Job Summary
The CNR Operations Specialist assists in the supervision of assigned staff as directed by the CNR Supervisor. The position exists to ensure smooth operations in the field, to provide ongoing coaching and problem-solving with drivers and to be accessible for emergency back-up and accident response. The Operations Specialist does not initiate nor implement any personnel action unless specifically directed to do so and then only under direct supervision of the supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the functions outlined below. Management retains the discretion to add-to and/or change the duties of the position at any time, as necessary.
Make bus assignments
Contact drivers to fill vacancies
Put/keep drivers and buses on route
Oversee completion and input of surveys
Empty vaults, as necessary
Complete daily reports
Conduct driver evaluations and ride-a-longs; provide input for drivers' reviews, communicate customer concerns and complements
Provide driver coverage and Dispatch support, as needed
Coordinate with Maintenance and Dispatch
Collaborate with the Driver Trainers and Safety Supervisor; Oversee training of new drivers, perform follow-up checks on all drivers, identify needs and schedule re-training as necessary, provide feedback to safety supervisor on a regular basis
Respond to accidents involving transit vehicles and assist vehicle operators in preparation of accident reports
Interact with the public concerning problems and complaints, provide information regarding transit operations
Other duties, as assigned
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED supplemented by specialized training in the transit industry and related transit experience including work in a supervisory capacity
Must be at least 25 years of age or older
Valid and "clean" Commercial Driver's License (Class C P1 or higher)
Valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certification
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices and procedures
Ability to work in an office environment as well as outside in all types of weather conditions
Dependable, good attention to detail, problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, follow-through and understanding of confidentiality
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other employees and the general public
Knowledge of the geographic and demographic service area
