Natural Gas Construction Crew Supervisor

Colorado Springs Utilities looking for a Gas Construction Crew Supervisor. In this position, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating work on gas infrastructure while supervising non-exempt employees who are Gas Apprentices’, Gas Pipefitters, Gas Pipefitter Specialists, and Equipment Operators. This position within the ECM Department is also responsible for the development, monitoring, troubleshooting and execution of regulations and standards regarding the installation, maintenance and repairs of gas pipelines, as well as preparing reports, developing and tracking projects, and training others in these processes.

In this job you will:

  • Supervise Gas Construction Crews by providing accurate feedback and the honest evaluating of personnel’s performance.

  • Ensure compliance with all gas laws, standards, regulations and safety procedures

  • Inspect work sites and verifying personnel, equipment and supply requirements

  • Prepare and complete reports, paperwork and job packets in a timely manner

  • Participate in and provide oversite, training, mentoring and coaching for employees

  • Maintain consistent neat, legible and accurate paperwork

  • Utilize computers and various software programs.

  • Complete employee evaluations and reviews

This position is designated as a first responder for emergencies and will require the successful candidate to pull stand-by and emergency call out as operational needs dictate. The successful candidate will need to be able to report to the nearest work center within 30 minutes and or make living arrangements while on standby to be able to do this. Standby will involve nights, weekends, and holidays.

What will it take to be successful in this job? Most people in this position would have completed an approved gas apprenticeship program, have completed various levels of training, and have a minimum of two years of experience in Natural Gas Training, Safety, Construction, and/or Operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion to teach, mentor and train employees while developing and building an effective team. This position requires the successful candidate to have and maintain a valid CDL driver’s license.
