(RTD) The Regional Transportation District General Repair Mechanic (Diesel) hiring bonus of $2000 in Denver, Colorado

This position is responsible for preventative maintenance, maintenancerepairs, and inspections on RTD buses and vehicles. This includes conductingdetailed inspections as well as removing, repairing, and replacing partsand components as necessary, while using tools and equipment in a safe andprofessional manner. Also maintains a clean, efficient, and safe shop area.This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations ofthe RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy.Experience in a heavy duty or flat rate mechanical shop.Must be at least nineteen (19) years of age.Not more than five (5) points assessed against motor vehicle record(MVR) in the past two (2) years as well as possessing a continuallyvalid driver's license for the past two (2) years. Also no DUI, DWI,or reckless driving in the past 24 months.Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinationby obtaining a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate for a minimum of a 2-yearqualifying period and then maintain a current DOT Medical Examiner'sCertificate thereafter.Ability to pass a RTD required Physical Ability Asssessment (PAA) relatedto the physical requirements of the essential functions of the job.Ability to obtain and maintain a current valid Colorado Commercial Driver'sLicense with an air brake and passenger endorsement (Class A-P2).Ability to obtain a State of Colorado 'Opacity DeterminationCertification' within 90-days of hire.Ability to obtain a tow truck certification within 90-days of obtaining a CDLClass A-P2.Ability to obtain certification as a forklift operator within 90-days of hire.Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical principles for diesel and gas engines,fluid systems, electrical, power train, chassis, and preventativemaintenance inspections.Knowledge of braking, heating, air conditioning, hydraulic systems,and transmissions.Knowledge of general preventative maintenance applications.Knowledge of and the ability to employ standard defensive driving techniques.Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, usingproper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in a professional manner.For a complete job description and to apply for this position, please visitour website.
