Selector – Night Warehouse
Basic Job Concept:
The Night Selector is responsible for selecting all orders. The orders are selected using either the wearable system or pick-tickets. When pulling Critical Care orders this person is required to pay close attention to quality and accuracy. The Night Selector is responsible for proper pallet building and loading the trucks in the correct route sequence.
The Night selector will be trained on and will fully utilize electric pallet jacks.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior selecting experience in a fast paced warehouse environment preferred.
Basic produce knowledge and experience preferred.
Minimum of six (6) months experience operating an electric pallet jack.
Operate an electric pallet jack safely and efficiently.
Select product in proper rotation utilizing the wearable system.
Ensure that all products are of the correct specification and quality to meet customers’ needs.
Stack and pull product in correct weight style, i.e., heavy products at the base, light products on top.
Ensure that product is properly selected and of adequate quality to ensure no more than 3 credits are earned per route.
Clock in and out on assigned routes with Clerk or Management.
Check with Clerk or management when substituting or TO’ing all items at the time of selection (not waiting till route is finished).
Demonstrate working knowledge of inventory.
Properly load pallets in truck according to sequence while pulling or after staging and route is complete.
Properly label and tag all pallets ensuring that drivers can identify multiple customers on single pallets.
Ensure tagged product is accurately pulled for the specified customer.
Must adhere to all safety guidelines, policies, and procedures at all time without exception.
Must pre-trip pallet jacks before every shift.
Responsible for cleaning designated area at the end of the night as dictated by management.
Stop and mop up any standing water anywhere in the warehouse immediately.
Perform any additional tasks as directed by management personnel.
Must work with other employees in a professional manner at all times.
Responsible for working until relieved by supervisor. This may require working longer than scheduled shift.
Must memorize and practice all Preferred Work Methods as written.
Ensure that all paperwork is properly documented, i.e., TO’s, Substitutions, Adjustments, and stickers are placed and highlighted on all paperwork.
Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.

Stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, squat, turn body, and walk.
Lift and move cases (selecting product and placing on a pallet) ranging in weight from 10 lbs to 100 lbs continuously to and from heights ranging from floor to knee, waist, shoulder, and overhead.
Use hands to sweep and pick up debris.
Handle and feel objects and/or equipment controls; reach with hands and arms.
Must have the ability to talk and hear; must be able to hear warning horns on moving machinery and equipment.
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include close and distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must exhibit a required level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform position.
Must have the ability to work in a cold cooler environment for periods of time in excess of 8 hours.
While performing the duties of this job, an associate regularly works near moving mechanical apparatus and is regularly exposed to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working is done on concrete flooring. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and will require work to be done in varying climates. Temperatures range from 32 degrees in the coolers to 95 degrees outdoors. The shift end-time fluctuates with the employer’s daily needs. The associate occasionally works in high and precarious places.
