Position Title: Routing Supervisor
The Routing Supervisor is responsible for the daily routing function with the goal of consistent, on time delivery in the most cost effective manner possible and responsible for maintaining the efficiency of the delivery routes, i.e., mileage, caseload, weight and driver overtime. Supervise Router in larger OpCos.
In order of importance (most to least), briefly describe 4-6 primary responsibilities of the position, and approximate the percentage of time spent on each.
Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
Responsible for daily load/route to maximize customer service, efficiency, manpower and equipment. Oversee the daily assignment of Delivery Associates to routes. Oversee the daily manpower scheduling to insure route coverage. Responsible for the update and maintenance of transportation system (RoadNet) standard routes and sites.
Communicates daily with customer service, warehouse and sales personal to achieve company goals related to routing/transportation.
Hire, review, coach, and develop the positions of router. Monitoring work, adherence to policy and safety requirements. Issuing discipline when necessary. Review team’s CMP’s regularly to ensure they are on track to meet their goals.
Analyzes department performance reports including system (TripMaster) data to monitor routing efficiency and accuracy.
Ensures timely resolution of daily delivery and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
Interact with drivers to maximize their ABC opportunities and correct any routing shortcomings. Ensures the proper level of service is being received to ensure customer satisfaction for new and existing customers.
Minimum Required: High School diploma or GED.
Associates degree preferred.
Minimum Required: 3-5 years distribution/transportation experience in high volume, route delivery operation.
